PAL launches Mabuhay Miles
By Germaine de Peralta
Manila - Philippine Airlines (PAL) has launched a new frequent flyer programme (FFP), Mabuhay Miles.

PAL assistant vice-president products, Ms Lynn Pasilao, said: “Our new frequent flyer programme and information system puts us on par with global industry standards.”

Members of PAL’s previous FFPs, PALsmiles and Mabuhay Club, will automatically be enrolled under the new programme, their unused mileage balance transferred.

Members can earn 150 per cent and 175 per cent of actual flown miles on Mabuhay (business) class and first class, respectively, on PAL flights to and from North America. On all other flights, members can earn 100 per cent, 125 per cent, 150 per cent of flown miles on economy, Mabuhay class and first class, respectively.

Members can look forward to easier terms when redeeming award tickets and service class upgrades. They only need 3,000 miles for a free one-way domestic award ticket, or a minimum 15,000 miles for a round-trip international award ticket.

Award tickets are also no longer subject to blackout dates. A Flexiflyer award option, an alternative to the standard award and available in economy at 1.5 times the usual rate, gives members better chances of getting a confirmed award seat on high-demand flights.

There are also now Mabuhay Miles Elite and Premier Elite Levels, which offer new exclusive privileges and VIP treatment.
