BRIEFING

Carlson consolidates data

Singapore – The Carlson group of companies, which includes Carlson Hotels Worldwide, Carlson Marketing Group, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Carlson Leisure Group, is consolidating its databases.

Carlson Hotels Worldwide president and CEO, Mr Jay Witzel, told BTN Asia-Pacific the group was working on a “fully integrated solution package” that would give customers a one-stop shop and allow companies within the group to cross-sell and tap into a much larger database.

The three non-hotel companies within the Carlson group, for instance, now contribute 10 to 15 per cent to Carlson Hotels Worldwide business.

Mr Witzel said: “Over the last five years we’ve done much to integrate our selling and delivery process. We are now in the process of integrating our databases so that we are able to have deeper relations with all our customers based on more intimate knowledge.

“We want to know their businesses, and we want them to know us.”

The data integration is expected to be completed by 2005 and will be announced with an education and marketing campaign to inform the public of “what we can do”.
