Business travellers contribute a large part to Hong Kong's visitor arrivals. The latest statistics from the Hong Kong Tourism Board showed business travellers made up 31 per cent of total arrivals in 2003.
The average length of stay was 3.88 days, 0.6 days more than leisure travellers. Overnight average spending was US$810 in 2003, about US$100 higher than leisure visitors (US$707).
Most business travellers were from longhaul markets. Europe, Africa and the Middle East were top sources followed by the Americas, North Asia, South and South-east Asia, Australia, New Zealand/South Pacific, Taiwan and China.
Although corporate travel has increased in the last five years, the number of business travellers as a percentage of total visitors remained the same. This was despite the impact of SARS in 2003.
Figures for 2004 werenot available.
