WHAT'S NEW

Located in the Kranji green belt, Bollywood Veggies is a four hectare organic farm that grows fruits, vegetables and herbs. It has a restaurant, Poison Ivy Bistro, set in an aromatic herb garden. The farm can be booked for private functions, catering can be arranged and patrons are free to wander the grounds and purchase the produce. Other attractions close by include DreamFish, an Arowana breeding farm, Hay Dairies Goat Farm and the Kranji Sanctuary Golf Course. Bollywood Veggies is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 09.00 to 18.00.

Old guns, new attraction
Labrador Park's imposing six-inch (shell diametre) guns, machine gun posts and two pre-World War II tunnels have recently been opened to the public. The tunnels have been preserved to convey what it must have been like for the British soldiers in the last days before the fall of Singapore. The tunnels are opened to the public during the day, but groups are welcomed to a private viewing after the attraction closes at 19.00. Arrangements can be made with Singapore Explorer, an attraction management company, which provides tour guides and also runs The Olive Ristorante, an alfresco restaurant next to one of the tunnels, offers themed dinners with pre- and post-dinner cocktails.

Musical meal
Located just a short walk from the historical Hill Street Fire Station, Flutes at the Fort is a restaurant-cum-wine bar housed in a quaint old colonial black and white home, which served as the former residence of the Fire Chiefs. Built in 1908 and set amid the picturesque greenery of Fort Canning Park, Flutes at the Fort has been lovingly restored. It has a private room, formerly the library of the house, that can be booked for small private meetings for 12.
